The Ick is a web and Android tracker that re-checks up to five public Instagram profiles every hour and notifies you about new follows and unfollows, without asking for your login. It has a strong Google Play rating, but there’s no iPhone app, follows from before you start tracking come without dates, and its terms rule out refunds.

What The Ick does
The Ick takes a snapshot of a public Instagram profile’s followers and following, then checks it again every hour. When something changes, it records new follows and unfollows in both directions and can send a push notification. It also keeps a history of follower and following counts and shows a gender breakdown of recent follows. One subscription covers up to five public profiles.
It works from the moment you start tracking. Accounts that a profile followed before then appear without a date, so The Ick can’t tell you what someone followed last month if you only started watching today. It can’t show likes, comments, DMs or story views, and its pricing page lists no story viewer.
The Ick runs as a web app and an Android app on the same account. There’s no iPhone app from its developer, Vaste Company, a Paris-based company.
Which “The Ick” is this?
Several products share the name. The Ick’s own “Is The Ick legit?” page says theick.ai is a different company and that an unrelated “The Ick” app on the Apple App Store comes from an individual developer. The domain the-ick-app.com redirects to theick.io. This review covers theick.io and its Android app, listed on Google Play as “The Ick: Recent Follow Tracker”.
Do you have to log in?
No. You search for a public profile by username and never connect your own Instagram account. Without a login, the logouts and locks some users report with login-based trackers don’t come into it, and we found no reports of account trouble linked to The Ick. It only works on public accounts.
Price and refunds
Searching a public profile and seeing a preview analysis is free. Continuous tracking and notifications need a subscription: $9.99 a week or $34.99 a year as shown to US visitors. Prices are set per country, and you see the local price at checkout. Web payments go through Stripe. Plans renew automatically, and you can cancel in Settings on the web or through Google Play.
The yearly plan works out much cheaper than paying weekly. Before you pay, note the refund terms: The Ick says no refunds, partial refunds or credits will be given for unused time, partial use or dissatisfaction after activation.
Ratings and privacy
On Google Play, The Ick has 4.5 stars from about 201,000 reviews and more than 1 million downloads, and it was last updated in September 2026. Its website quotes a slightly different figure, 4.6 from 192K+ reviews.
Google Play’s data safety section says the app shares no data with third parties, but may collect personal info, app activity and device or other IDs. The Play listing pitches the app for following “favorite creators, brands, or public figures”, while the website’s own copy talks about tracking “him” and a boyfriend.
Who should use it
The Ick fits if you’re on Android or happy using a browser, want hourly alerts for a handful of public accounts, and don’t need history from before you started. If you want a native iPhone app or need to watch more than five profiles, it won’t fit. You can compare login-free trackers in our ranking or read more reviews.
